In these modern times and during our hectic schedules staying consistent and healthy is tuff. Having a cheat meal or snack is inevitable so it’s important that we know how to cheat when we do.
I am going to share with you my method, how and when I cheat.
In the past I’ve struggled to do this, hence I had a lot of yo-yo results. If we cheat more than what we allowed to then we won’t ever see the hard earned results, because we never reach a calorie deficit. That’s the easiest way to lose weight.
I never deprive myself the foods I love! My favourite cheat meal is a few pizza slices or a few pieces of chocolate! Who ever said Diamonds are a girls best friend never had a good slice of pizza before!
My method:
- I eat healthy during the week
- I count my macros
- I exercise 5 days a week
- I drink 3 litres of water a day
- I drink Green tea
- limit myself to 2 cups of coffee
- I eat more veggies than fruits
- I drink coke zero instead of coke
- Replace normal wraps with veggie wraps
- Replace normal pastas with veggie pasta
How I cheat:
- I choose to cheat over the weekends – this helps me remain focused on my goals during the week (prefer doing it on Friday’s or Sunday’s)
- I go with what I’m in the mood for – sometimes it’s pizza, chocolate, gin or whatever, I just make sure that before I cheat I drink 1-2 glasses of water and eat whole-Low Gi foods for breakfast to ensure that I don’t over do it! That’s a great secret! Cause when we’re dehydrated or hungry we make rash decisions.
- Drink even more water and green tea the next day – this way you can detox some of the food out of your system and avoid bloating
So basically, I make sure that I am disciplined during the week and then reward myself accordingly with my goal still in my mind.
Additionally, you can still enjoy your favourite foods in either a healthier dish version or by simply enjoying them over a scheduled/planned cheat meal/snack.
You need to determine your goal and then plan ahead to reach it.
Getting that perfect body can take longer if you’re not disciplined or consistent.
I am also still in my journey, still learning, this is just what I’ve learned and what has worked for me.
